The SEC is doing all it can to make sure that FL and Alabama have a shot at the national championship. That was very obvious in the Alabama-Tenn game. That surprises me given what I saw on the video, but if Ealey says “He really didn’t gouge my eyes. He really didn’t get a chance to get close to my eyes.” then that's good enough for me. In general I am totally in favor of suspending players and doing everything possible to reduce any unnecessary violence in football that is outside the rules regardless of the team and that goes for UGA players as well. But in this case, if Ealey doesn't want to "press charges" then far be it from me to contradict him.Budhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14931343220211035439noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8320221605077796058.post-17244915918301183612009-11-04T02:18:12.262-05:002009-11-04T02:18:12.262-05:00Just curious why the sports media are not saying a...Just curious why the sports media are not saying anything about the #51 for Georgia, who not only reached inside the helmet as Brandon Spikes did, but actually poked and scratched the eyes of the occupant, which Spikes did not do and may not have had any intention of doing. However, just because everyone does it does not mean it should be an accepted occurrence. When there is a possibility of malevolent intent for injury towards the athletes, there needs to be a deterrent. So, Brandon Spikes should be made an example of this punishment, as should those who follow in the crude pugilism on the football field.Bud's Wiserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11069843357758494591noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8320221605077796058.post-50735433900562408412009-11-03T13:14:37.148-05:002009-11-03T13:14:37.148-05:00Just because you shoot at someone and miss does no...Just because you shoot at someone and miss does not mean you did not intent to kill them! Who was first? The announcers were concerned Tebow had been hit on the head on a tackle when he came up trying to focus his eyes. The issue wasn't the tackle (a shoulder to shoulder hit) but instead a finger in the face mask while he was on the ground. I hate to seen teams play that way but if someone is going after my QB - I just might be say an eye for an eye.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8320221605077796058.post-82656089881315044852009-11-03T11:05:17.219-05:002009-11-03T11:05:17.219-05:00To the second anonymous poster - there was no eye ...To the second anonymous poster - there was no eye gouge, the Georgia player was fine and never even mentioned it much less acted injured. This seems to be totally lost in the hysteria, nothing actually happened, just what people think they saw in a 1-second film clip. Idiots saying the same thing over and over doesn't make it true. God, you people are stupid. Do you get it? Nothing happened!

Meyer suspended Spikes for being in a position where something COULD have happened and losing his cool (after getting several cheap shots that were not called but are on video tape, funny how not one of you is calling on Mark Richt to punish his players), in other words, Meyer is taking pro-active steps to make sure something bad does not happen in the future. Because there is nothing to punish. And yet this penalty seems to light? Punishment for something that didn't actually happen but just looked bad? I think it's a shame Urban Meyer has to bow to the pressure of morons like you and media hacks who just like to stir the pot.Bill Tnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8320221605077796058.post-1370380599330335662009-11-03T10:44:42.524-05:002009-11-03T10:44:42.524-05:00I am so sick of hearing some derrivative of "...I am so sick of hearing some derrivative of "that's not me." Have you noticed that is the line that is trotted out every time someone does something like this player did, or someone commits a violent crime, or uses a racial slur? It's a standard line in every public apology. Yes, Urban, this is who Brandon Spikes is, because Brandon Spikes did it.

BTW, thanks, Urban. You have given me a reason to hate Florida as much as I did when Spurrier was there.

And what does this say about the SEC itself?
